PAGASA Confirms Development of Tropical Depression Paolo East of Southern Luzon
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced today, October 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM, that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Southern Luzon has developed into Tropical Depression Paolo (PaoloPH). This is the first tropical cyclone bulletin issued for the weather disturbance.

Iligan and Mindanao Weather Outlook Amid Paolo’s Development
As of this advisory, Paolo is expected to continue moving west-northwestward and may intensify further as it approaches the Philippine landmass. While its current forecast track shows a higher probability of affecting Northern and Central Luzon, areas in Mindanao, including Iligan City, are advised to remain cautious of possible rain showers, thunderstorms, and localized flooding due to enhanced southwest monsoon activity.
Key Forecast Details from PAGASA:
- Name: Tropical Depression Paolo (PaoloPH)
- Date/Time of Formation: 11:00 AM, October 1, 2025
- Location: East of Southern Luzon
- Intensity: Maximum sustained winds of up to 45 km/h, gustiness reaching 55 km/h
- Movement: West-northwestward, projected to strengthen into a tropical storm within the next 24–48 hours.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) also continues to monitor Paolo (labeled as TD 27W internationally), alongside other developing systems in the Indian Ocean.
What Iligan and Neighboring Areas Should Prepare For
- Scattered Rain Showers – Possible localized downpours due to enhanced monsoon.
- Travel Precautions – Fisherfolk and small sea vessels must stay cautious of rough seas.
- Flood-Prone Zones – Extra alertness is advised in low-lying and riverbank communities.
- Weather Updates – Continuous monitoring of official PAGASA advisories.
Stay Prepared and Informed
Residents are urged to closely monitor official bulletins as Paolo may strengthen and alter its path in the coming days. For Iligan and Northern Mindanao communities, preparedness remains key to ensuring safety against possible weather impacts.
