Drumbeats of Victory: Iligan’s Sta. Filomena Central School and Sto. Niño High School Shine in Drum and Lyre Fest

The Sta. Filomena Central School emerged as champion in the elementary category while Sto. Niño National High School of Bacolod, Lanao del Norte, claimed the high school crown during the Drum and Lyre Competition held on September 14, 2025, at the Anahaw Amphitheater in Iligan City.

Iligan Drum and Lyre Competition 2025 Highlights

The competition, organized by the City Government of Iligan, showcased the rhythm, precision, and artistry of nine participating schools, each delivering impressive performances that wowed the crowd.

  • Elementary Category
    • Champion: Sta. Filomena Central School – ₱70,000 prize
    • Special Awards: Best in Majorette, Best in Musicality, and Most People’s Choice
    • 2nd Place: Naawan Central School
    • 3rd Place: Juan B. Tabla Central School
    • 4th Place: Tambo Central School
  • High School Category
    • Champion: Sto. Niño National High School – ₱70,000 prize
    • Special Awards: Best in Majorette, People’s Choice Award
    • 2nd Place: Carmen National High School, Cagayan de Oro – ₱50,000 prize
    • 3rd Place: Sto. Niño High School, Bukidnon – ₱30,000 prize, Best in Musicality

Other participating groups received ₱15,000 consolation prizes as recognition of their efforts.

Performances were judged according to:

  • Precision, Rhythm, and Tempo – 30%
  • Clarity and Harmony – 25%
  • Techniques, Style, and Choreography – 25%
  • General Impact – 20%

The event highlighted Iligan’s continuing tradition of promoting culture, music, and youth talent through lively competitions that bring communities together.
