Ivangers Secure Top Spot in Iligan Visual Arts Competition with Heritage-Inspired Design

Iligan City — The Ivangers group emerged as the champion in the recent Iligan Visual Arts Competition, captivating judges with their creative design of the Macaraeg-Macapagal House mounted on the tartanilya of Nemesio Tito Jr. Their entry earned a remarkable score of 92.92%, securing the ₱25,000 grand prize, along with an additional ₱7,000 prize for the kutsero.

Iligan Celebrates Local Talent and Heritage

The competition gathered 20 groups of visual artists from Iligan and nearby areas, showcasing works that not only displayed artistic skill but also reflected the city’s rich culture, traditions, and vibrant tourism attractions.

  • Champion: Ivangers – Macaraeg-Macapagal House (₱25,000 + ₱7,000 for kutsero)
  • First Runner-Up: Yano Iliganon – Maze Park and Resort
  • Other Recognized Entries: Dalipuga Centennial Park (New Bee), Former Senator Tomas Cabili Obesik Rotonda, and Limunsudan Falls (Team Ramboo)

Through this annual cultural event, local artists highlight the beauty of Iligan’s heritage sites, parks, and natural attractions, further promoting the city as a hub of creativity and tourism.

Spearheaded by Councilor Michelle Sweet-Booc, Chairperson of the Committee on Cultural Heritage, the event reaffirmed Iligan’s commitment to supporting local artists while promoting tourism destinations such as Maze Park and Resort, Dalipuga Centennial Park, and Limunsudan Falls.

By linking art with tourism, the activity provides a meaningful platform for visual artists to showcase their abilities while boosting Iligan’s reputation as a cultural and travel destination in Northern Mindanao.
